Can you imagine eating in a hospital, sitting in wheelchairs and modified hospital beds, with doctors or nurses as your waiters? Some might find it fun or weird or even disgusting. However, a new restaurant called Clinic Cafe ignored all this pre-assumptions and open up their business at the Gurney Plaza shopping centre in Penang.
Clinic Cafe is a theme restaurant with a hospital’s interior design. The restaurant is equipped with theatre lights, which are suspended from the ceiling. The chairs are either wheelchairs or mock hospital beds and the tables are operating theatre tables.
After placing your order, your bill even gets clipped to a board made to resemble a hospital chart on the end of your ‘bed’. Framed on the walls are anatomical posters of the human body and surgical equipments.
Besides that, all waiters and waitresses wear doctor or nurse’s uniforms or white lab coats. Also, you’ll notice that the hospital supplies like syringes, tube and others are used as dinnerware.
Cally Loo, 25, salesgirl say, “I feel excited when my French fries was served with ketchup from a syringe. It was amazing.”

Loo, definitely going to Clinic Café again.
